2017 Emmys Trump Slamming Sham

I was shocked to hear that television celebrities spent hours bashing President Trump at the 2017 Emmy Award ceremony.  Why would these people believe they are immune from the reaction of tens of millions of Trump voters?  Don’t they realize that every time they make an insulting comment about Trump they alienate his base?

I certainly don’t feel that they care about how I feel, as an American citizen.  It seems like everything the country ever stood for is now being trounced by the American news media and now those of us who always supported civil rights are being called bigots.  It is an unbelievable turn of events.

These Hollywood actors, directors, producers and writers believe they are immune to a backlash over their derisive words.  I think they believe everyone in the country should believe the way they do, so their ready to throw the baby out with the bath water, so to speak.

They have taken an event, much the way sports have been ruined, and turned it into a political battle, which I do not appreciate.  Oh, well, chalk up another group of ding-dongs to put on my list of people I never watch.

IMDB Stifling Free Speech

I belonged to the Internet Movie Database (IMDB) since May, 2002, but tonight I went in and deleted my account.  I had about 75 reviews of films and hundreds and hundreds of messages on their message board system I wrote over the last 15 years.  I cried.  I put so much time and effort into blogging on the IMDB, researching the message boards of IMDB – and it turns out they deleted 15 years worth of message board activity in one fell swoop at the end of February.

Hmm…what could have caused IMDB to erase out the entire database of messages?  Could it be that IMDB, now owned by Amazon, doesn’t want to have the voices of Conservatives included on their message boards?  They claimed it was because of “trolls” on the boards.  I’ve been on those boards for 15 years and I’ve never had a problem with a troll.  I think the “trolls” were Conservatives and I believe this controversy began because Conservatives complained on the message boards about Meryl Streep, among many other Hollywood elites who have made a habit of bad mouthing our President.

It is so terribly sad that the internet – the very thing I have loved for such a long time – is shutting down free speech more and more often today.  Later, I went to TCM.com, the website for Turner Classic Movies, and signed up.  It may take a while to get accustomed to the TCM format, but I think I’ll grow to love that website, too.  I’ll keep my fingers crossed they don’t suddenly decide to shut down their viewers.
